HERMISTON – Hermiston School District Assistant Superintendent Jake Bacon said that Loma Vista and Rocky Heights elementary schools are still on track to open for the next school year. The work at Loma Vista is slightly behind schedule but both the contractor and the work crews have coordinated to allow for delays.

“At Loma Vista, we should be getting in the shipment of windows this week to be able to install,” he said. “That will really help seal that up and then they can really go to work on the drywall side of things.”

He said that the new Rocky Heights Elementary School is slightly more complete than Loma Vista.

“They’re actually a little ahead of where Loma Vista is right now,” Bacon said. “In June, we turn over the Rocky Heights building and it no longer is school district. We’re going to tear it down and start moving things in.”

Bacon praised the Wenaha Group for its ability to stay on time in spite of supply chain problems.

“They’ve worked really hard to set it up so it doesn’t impact the open date,” he said.
