Crash prompts partial closure of HWY 26 in Grant Co.

GRANT COUNTY – UPDATE AT 1:56pm: Traffic is flowing through the crash site in both directions. The highway is now open. Traffic is being controlled, and minimal delays are reported in the area.

UPDATE AT 12:53pm: The WESTBOUND lane is open on the affected section of HWY 26. The eastbound lane of travel remains closed at this time.

PREVIOUSLY POSTED:

Highway 26 is closed to through traffic between Mt. Vernon and the west side of Picture Gorge, near milepost 94. Only local traffic is allowed. There is no estimated time the road will reopen. The closure is due to an accident involving a semi truck and several vehicles near Picture Gorge and the Grant/Wheeler County line.

Due to multiple slide-offs, Grant County Sheriff Todd McKinley is asking travelers and residents to avoid all travel throughout Grant County today, unless absolutely necessary. Stay posted for updated information.
